1. Do you put ketchup on a hot dog?
Yes. Though, once in a while, I like to change it up with just mustard.
2. Choice of soda?
I don’t drink soda often, but my very favorite is Orange Slice.
3. Do you own a gun?
No, I don’t.
4. Can you swim?
No. I almost drowned once when I was little, which sort of soured the experience for me. I did try to learn again when I got older, but I discovered that I don’t really float easily, which puzzled my friends who were eagerly trying to help at the time. Nothing short of holding me up seemed to work. I’m tall enough to wade in fairly deep water, though, and I can wade with the best of them.
5. Hot dogs or cheeseburger?
Cheeseburger most of the time. It’s honestly my go-to order at most restaurants, even if it's not fast food. Cheeseburgers generally turn out to be good, so it’s a safe bet. I do like hot dogs too, but I think cheeseburgers would win out.
6. Favorite type of food?
It’s a classic, but I have to say pizza.
7. Do you believe in ghosts?
I believe there are spirits, demons, and things we can’t see and don’t know about – the Bible talks about “powers and principalities” (Ephesians 6:12). But I don’t believe in “ghosts” in the traditional sense.
8. What do you drink in the morning?
Water is usually the first thing I drink. I don’t actually drink coffee. After that, milk. (My parents are originally from Wisconsin. Dairy is practically in my blood.)
9. Can you do 100 push-ups?
No. But I used to be in gymnastics when I was in much, much younger, so back-bends were common. Now, though, no.
10. Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall?
I think that all the seasons have something special about them, but winter is my favorite. I love how quiet and peaceful the word is when it snows, and I enjoy curling up under a warm blanket with a good book.
11. Your favorite hobby?
Reading and writing come out on top, but I love to do anything that uses my imagination. I’m a crafter, so I make most of the gifts I give to people, though I don’t know if I’d call that a hobby exactly. I just love to surprise family and friends. (And speaking of reading, I must laugh at myself because I was just reading Lord of the Rings fan fic the other day, and right now, I almost typed “hobbit” instead of “hobby.”)
12. Tattoos?
Nope, none. I have to admit, they’re not something that has ever interested me, though I know some people like them.
13. Do you wear glasses?
Yes, I do. My regular vision is terrible, and I have a problem with dry eyes, so my eyes wouldn’t tolerate contacts. Also, I just recently learned that I am allergic to plastic because I wound up having a reaction to the new plastic glasses frames I got. It was a valuable thing to learn, I suppose. No fun, but valuable nonetheless. The replacement frames are now stainless steel.
14. Do you have a phobia?
I don’t know if I would call it a phobia exactly, but I am not a fan of fire. I’m not frightened to the point that I can’t stand it, but I am very cautious around it and prefer not to deal with it if I don’t have to.
15. Do you have a nickname?
Not really. I have been told that I am hard to find a nickname for, and this comes from people who insist that they nickname everyone.
16. Three favorite drinks?
1. Milk
2. Lemonade
3. Eggnog (though only around the holidays)
17. Biggest downfall?
Pride, I think. Pride can be such a subtle thing that you sometimes don't notice it. Until you think, “I'm so humble.” *pause* “Um, wait...”
18. Rain or snow?
I like both, but my favorite is snow. The world looks beautiful when it is covered in white.
19. Can you change a tire?
I would like to learn, but right now, no.
20. Favorite flower?
I have always loved roses.
21. Can you drive a stick?
I can’t drive at all, actually. I live in a small enough town that I can ride my bike most places. It’s much less expensive when trying to pay off a student loan.
22. Ever gone skydiving?
No, and I don’t ever want to. Knowing how things go, I’m worried I would be the person who had something go wrong with the 'chute opening, despite several safety checks.
23. Kids?
No, though I would love to have a husband and kids someday. I don’t know that it will ever happen, though.
24. Favorite color?
As you may have guessed by looking at my journal, teal. :)
25. Employed?
Yes. I work as an online English tutor.
26. Can you whistle?
I can, yes. *whistles to prove it*
27. Where were you born?
Colorado.
28. Siblings?
I have half-sisters and a step-sister and two step brothers.
29. Surgeries?
I had to have surgery when I had pneumonia and I had an abscess in my lung, though I was unconscious at the time (I had been on a ventilator for 18 days), so I only found out about the surgery after the fact. Other than that, I once needed oral surgery for dental issues.
30. Shower or bath?
I prefer baths if I have to pick one or the other.
31. Last album you listened to?
I’m honestly not sure. Lately, I’ve been listening mostly to singles rather than whole albums.
32. Age?
I'm 32. (And I coincidentally match the number of this question.)
33. Broken bones?
I broke my wrist when I was in 7th grade, and it still gives me some trouble even now, though, on the plus side, I can sometimes predict when it will storm. I’ve also broken a couple toes over the years.
34. How many TVs are in your house.
One, though we don’t have cable, so right now, it’s mostly a very large modern art piece.
35. Worst pain?
The very worst pain I’ve ever felt actually happened when I was in second grade. It was when I was in gymnastics at the time, and I was practicing handstands in the living room. There was space enough to do that, but, unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I was moving closer to the coffee table as I went. On my last attempt, I fell over, and my ankle came down right on the corner of that coffee table. I didn’t break my ankle, thank the Lord, but it was a bad sprain, and it’s the only time in my life that I’ve ever been in so much pain that every muscle just locked up. I couldn’t move for a solid minute when it happened. That tops my list. The chest tubes I needed when I had pneumonia are a very close second. Third was my broken wrist.
36. Do you like to sing?
Yes, I do, though not in front of others. I love performing usually (acting, dancing, I was in marching band, etc.) but singing in front of others, for some reason, makes me terribly nervous, and I just don't enjoy it.
37. Are you parents still alive?
Yes, they are.
38. Do you like camping?
I’ve only been camping once, and I didn’t enjoy it much, I must admit. Though, the tent I was in wound up on a hill, and there was an awkward lump of hard ground right beneath me, so that may have influenced my experience a little.
39. What do you enjoy binge-watching?
I actually don’t binge-watch things often. I usually enjoy watching just a few episodes at time when I find a good show or an old favorite. Though, I have to say, one show I could binge watch is the Christian series, "The Chosen," which is the first episodic presentation of the Gospels ever made. It's amazing and so very well done. I could keep watching it for hours. The creators of the show allow you to watch the first episode for free online. I couldn't stop there, though, and bought the rest of the episodes they have produced so far. I'm really looking forward to more.
40. Pumpkin or Pecan pie.
I enjoy pumpkin pie a lot around the holidays. I’ve never actually had the chance to try pecan pie, though I want to sometime.
